Our wondrous love affair

Rebing and me

Our Wondrous Love Affair*
by Gil Camporazo

Riiing! Riiing! Riiing!
The school bell sounded
For the class appearing
That it has ended.

In a distance whereof
Someone craning his neck
Expecting her to come thereof
To a Mabolo tree so to speak.

He and she had met
In a happy mood in their faces.
Reaching her hand so sweet
Leading to one of the concrete benches.

Both looked at their eyes
Something hidden unexpressed.
He grabbed her right hand so nice
And opened his mouth and expressed.

The three-word phrase came out
Direct from his heart addressed to her.
Without so much ado she took it out
And replied, "I love you, too, dear."

What a wondrous love affair
For them in this love month of February
They became sweethearts so fair
And later hubby and wife for time and eternity.

*This had happened sometime in February 1969 when my wife and I studied in one high school. And we met accidentally at the improvised study hall one afternoon. The Mabolo tree is our meeting place when we had a vacant and after our classes in the afternoon we met before we went home.
