35... phoenix rising

some say Marawi will rise again
but like an old man long bedridden
slow and doddering
some say the Islamic city will recover from the pain
like a youngster convalescing yet unshaken
springy and unwavering
whatever
i never bet on speculation
i depend more without reservation
on the president's promise to the Maranao people
to rebuild the emptied devastated city and employ
all means and resources for it to arise from its fall
and make it better than it was before the terrorist attack
ah but my heart drums with expectant elevating joy
to see this man who holds the truth in his words and has pluck
he walks his talks
e'en if he shoots broadsides from his irreverent mouth
ne'er bothered by his detractors labeling him uncouth
i never had faith with politicians before
but now i have with this man from down south whom elitists deplore
HE IS THE MAN WHOSE TRACK RECORD I CANNOT IGNORE.
Deus Magnus Est...
Allah Hu Akbar!
